What if you are doing everything you possibly can to find the right person for you and it’s still not happening? I talk to a lot of people about finding the right relationships. I talk to people who are actively dating, who love their lives, have outside interests, take care of themselves, are open to people they might not at first choose and even they are having a hard time of it. Why? What are they doing wrong? Nothing. It’s just really hard to find someone. PERIOD. Many of them will say the same thing, “But all my friends have hooked up with someone.” Yes but that wasn’t easy for them either I promise you. Every person in the world struggles with this. The point I’m trying to make here is that dating and finding someone is hard, not just hard but incredibly hard. So much has to be right for it to work and go the distance. Finding that someone who checks at least half your boxes is rare, very rare and the older we get the more particular we are because we’ve learned about ourselves and others. We get choosy with age. Yes, there are things you could look at: Are your standards so high no one can hit them? Are you, in this great need to couple, coming off as desperate or needy? Is your awareness so astute you are actually not really seeing everyone for who they really are? These are things that happen to people who want it so badly. There is nothing wrong at all in wanting to partner up with someone but it can’t be the be-all and end-all it just put too much pressure on the universe to deliver. Even when you are in the right headspace it takes time. I want to point this out because I think people think they should be getting something they see everybody else getting and not realizing that everyone is different and on their own path. It’s a false equivalency. Hope for love but try not to want it. Just try and love your life as it is. Put yourself out there in the ways that feel natural to you and that exploit your best qualities. And know, IT’S HARD FOR EVERONE! Again, hope for love but try not to want it. See if it shows up.
